Studio concept. Salitre is a fictional ceramics brand invented for this study. It isn't a client, and the vessels are 3D renders by the studio, not photographs.
Overview
Salitre is an imagined ceramics studio on the coast, firing small batches with a salt glaze so no two pieces come out the same. Salitre means saltpetre, the crust the sea leaves on everything nearby. Its online store has to convey weight and surface through a screen.
Challenge
Ceramics shops online tend to repeat one look: beige walls, dried stems, a soft grid. It's lovely, and it's completely interchangeable. And because each piece is unique, a standard product page undersells the very thing that makes them worth buying.
Objectives
- Make the store unmistakable at a glance
- Convey material and scale without being in the room
- Keep mobile checkout short and calm

Strategy & direction
One saturated colour and hard sun. Everything else gets out of the way so the white glaze can do the work.
Ultramarine
The sea, the sky and a very old pigment. Against it, white glaze reads as a material rather than a colour, and picks up blue in its shadows.
Lowercase and quiet
A thin, geometric wordmark that behaves like a maker's stamp. It never competes with the object.
One of one
Batch numbers and care notes turn natural variation into the reason to buy, not a defect to apologise for.
Live prototype
Design & development
The storefront below is a working prototype. Add a piece to the bag, and the bag answers immediately, with no page load between wanting something and having it. The goal was a store that feels as direct as picking something up.

moon jar
$240 · Batch 014

tall bottle
$120 · Batch 014

bowl no. 3
$85 · Batch 014

cup

Prototype: these prices are fiction and nothing is for sale.

Outcomes
This is a concept, so there are no results to report. We don't invent numbers. When a commissioned project goes here, you'll see verified outcomes and where they came from.
